Gurupoornima Celebrations 2014

Vyasa jayanthi widely known as gurupoornima was celebrated in the school on 8/7/14 Tuesday. On the day the function started by 10.00 in the morning by an invocation prayer by the students along with lighting the lamp by Br. Jayasankar incharge of koyilandy mata amritananda mayi math, who guided the program on the whole. Br.Jayasankar gave an enlightening speech about the importance of the GURU .

“Guru is the one who guides us throughout our life for taking proper decision without moving away from the right path”.

After the guided meditation GURU paduka puja was performed by Brni.Saichitra Principal of the school.

The children who gathered in the hall with their parents were all set with the essential materials for doing pooja to their parents. Everyone were having lamp, oil, agarbathy, plate , a glass of water, towel, flower garland and 2 toffees .

After the gurupaduka pooja and 2 bhajans by a group of people from asram including the students of the school, the children were asked to light the lamp from a lighted diya given. Children were asked to imagine any favorite god within them and see the same god in their mother or father who were present before them. They were asked to keep the feet of the parent in the plate. The water given was sanctified by imagining the presence of water from 7 sacred rivers of Bharat. The children were asked to wash the feet of their parents with the water and dry them with the towel with reference. Then they applied sandal wood paste and kumkum on the feet. After that the children were asked to garland their parents and worship with camphor. The parents with overflowing love kissed on the forehead of their child and gave toffee to the child. The children also fed toffee to the parent. This was an overwhelming scene for the viewers, even their eyes were filled with joy. Then they were asked to circumambulate in the place where they were standing imagining that they were doing it around the GOD. Children were then asked to imagine the god they worshipped in the parents getting reunited in them. After praying for the peace and harmony of the world the pooja was winded up.

After two more bhajans the pooja got over finally distributing the Prasad to all. Lunch was provided for the students as well as the parents. The students of higher class helped the staff to serve the food.
